Beauty

Posted on June 21, 2008

We went to visit my great aunt Gladys last weekend. She came up from Florida, and my sisters and I hadn’t seen her in 13 years. We adore our aunt Gladys, and we had a great time visiting with her. She got to meet my two wonderful children, and she learned that my sister Amy is expecting her first child in January! The husbands didn’t come with us due to prior obligations, so my sisters and I had a girls’ day. I got a wonderful picture of my baby sister Cari with my daughter Kaylie. Natural beauty means that I had to do just about zero post-processing on the photo. I only had to correct some shadowing on Cari’s face by brightening it up a bit (they were under a shade tree).

In the interest of practicing natural light photography, I did a few photos of Kaylie the other evening when the sun began to set. The light was perfect, but her sensitive eyes still squinted in a few of them. I did add a cool filter to one of the pictures for fun. As usual, click for the big pictures. :-)

So I took Kaylie to the dentist yesterday. That’s no big deal, right? Um, right, except for the fact that Kaylie has been terrified of the dentist up to this point. Brent had taken her before, so I tried it this time around. To my surprise, she did fantastic, and she was so great that they gave her 3 prizes.

Allow me to take a moment to thank the dentist for stocking his prize drawer with super bouncy balls. My evening was filled with the sounds of those things smacking every available surface of my house.

Kaylie has been telling me that she has two more loose teeth. In fact, she has five. They discovered this during her exam. When she told me, I swear I could see dollar signs in her eyes. I think the Tooth Fairy needs to stock up on $1′s very soon! She giggled when I told her that her teeth were just going to start falling out of her mouth. It’s like the first tooth was the support in the dam, and once it came out it started a flood!

Well, it sounds like I have my first “photo shoot” coming up soon. I am really excited about it. I will be shooting my friend and coworker, her mom, her daughter, and her two grandchildren (who happen to be adorable!). They are a beautiful family, and I can’t wait to get gorgeous shots of them.

More Pictures to Debut

Posted on June 5, 2008

This time the subject is my gorgeous princess Kaylie. I spent a lot of time last night playing with this picture, and I love it. It’s just a simple shot of her pretty face. I can’t believe how grown up she is. It seems like just yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital. I’m telling you, that little girl was given to us for a reason. She has brightened the life of everyone who has known her along the way. She was even charming enough to win a personality contest at 8 months! If you know her, that’s probably not surprising. She happens to be extremely photogenic, so I think a lot of my pictures in my portfolio will be Kaylie pictures. Again, click on the picture for the full detailed view.
